TRIBAL POLITICS ONLY SPELLS DOOM FOR THE SPIRIT OF COMRADESHIP

“Win through your actions and not your argument”. I have in the recent past been deeply reflecting and contemplating on the changing political weather, strategic campaign plans and the systematic unfolding of events and I totally believe that am in absolute order to say “the die is about to be cast”. Am deeply shocked and equally worried by the fast spreading” tribal political deficiency virus” that seems to be forming part and parcel of our daily engagement .In less than a month’s time, we will be going to the ballot to exercise our dully constituted democratic right. Comrades, we should be acutely conscious of the fundamental reality that this not just an ordinary exercise, but a historical turning point with monumental implications.

We are faced with a choice between retrogressive status quo and progressive transformation. To reward cronyism or unleash full potential of meritocracy. It is therefore disgusting and equally disappointing that some elements have resorted to retrogressive political antics of taking asylum in tribal cocoons after reality dawning on them that their capabilities and credentials are very incompatible with their vested political interests. Common sense tells me that a University by virtue of its  definition is a Union of Diversities and therefore it beats logic that some well- known  contestants and personalities have stripped naked the spirit of comradeship and transformed this institution into a “shrine” where the High Priests and congregation preach and spread the gospel of TRIBALISM. Comrades, how can we talk the talk and fail to walk the talk? YES! Pretenders are worse than murderers. I am mystified by how we condemn tribalism by word yet appear to routinely condone the vice by deeds. It is flabbergasting how we preach the gospel of” COMRADES POWER” yet our deeds ooze tribalism.

Enough said, if we could only talk less and act more, we will create a safe haven for ultimate leadership and upholding the Spirit and Supremacy of comradeship .Leadership is defined by ability and not originality and there is no better way to judge one’s ability and capability than to reflect on the total sum up of one’s past utterances, actions and grounds on which he/she has stood for through the test of times. This institution is greater than any individual and it comes a time when it is far much more important than one’s personal interests. In a nutshell, to bring freshness to the polluted political air, to bring renaissance to the spirit of comradeship, I say down with cowardly tribal politics and romance in tribal political beds, we the people must rise up and chop off tribalism and victimization of democratic will. Let us usher in leadership full of valor, openness, integrity and loyalty to the spirit of comradeship.
